Caro's CRAZY Life Weekend Edition 5/14/16-5/15/16

Hey everyone!! Surprise! I have a post for you all!! Happy middle of the week, I hope you are all surviving. I'm definitely struggling a lot.

So this past weekend, 5/14/16-5/15/16 I was at a swim meet. It wasn't just a regular swim meet, it was a long course swim meet (the pool is 50m long instead of 25yds long) and it was outside...

Saturday
So on Saturday my family traveled to the outdoor pool. It was about a 2.5 hour ride, it was fairly long. So we arrived to the pool at about 2:00 pm. Warm up was about 2:25 pm, so we had some time to set up our chairs under the tents with our teams. It was pretty chilly. Then it was warm up time, it was definitely difficult to go from fully clothed to half naked/only have a swim suit on. Although the pool was heated so the water ended up being 84°F (that is SUPER hot for competitive swimming, it's like swimming in a bath). Basically not many people were doing well at this meet on this day. Also there was supposed to be a thunder storm later in the meet so many people including me and my team mates got scratched from the last race of that day, the 200 freestyle.

Later that day at about 7:30 pm, when my family was on our way to getting dinner. We were in the car and it started raining. Eventually it rained much harder, then became a downpour. Then there was one flash of lightning and one clap of thunder then it stopped raining. wtf...

Sunday
Sunday was much more of a crazy day. Again, like yesterday, we needed to be at the pool at 2:00 pm. It was SUPER cold, it was 50°F, It was also VERY windy. The flags that you see at pools were horizontal instead of vertical.

At one point it was sunny and it was really nice. The majority of the time it was very cloudy. At another point it was raining for again a few seconds. Then another time, IT HAILED.

That wasn't the worst part, since the difference from the actual temperature to the water temperature was so large,(34° difference to be exact) it affected people greatly. The most common thing that happened was when people swam, they would loose feeling in their feet, their feet would tingle, and they would hurt. It happened to pretty much everyone. Since it was so cold, the coaches were literally expecting nothing from us, many people added 3, 5, 10, or even more seconds to their times.

This was the experience of my first outdoor swim meet.

I hope you all enjoyed this post. Comment below if you have had a crazy event like this.

Have a great day,
Caro ♥
